“Special Social Support During Compulsory Psychiatric Admission”

People with compulsory psychiatric hospital admission will have the right to receive Government special social support.  The Government proposal to grant this right is contained in a letter sent to the parliament by Ahmed Aboutaleb, the State Secretary for social affairs and employment. Before the Government move, this group of psychiatric patients are not entitled to special social support because they are not available for work.  With the introduction of this reform, Government aims at preventing this people from falling out of insurance  and medical care or possible lose of their homes.

“ COUNCIL OF MINISTERS AGREE ON MEDICAL ETHICS POLICY STATEMENT ”

CCOUNCIL OF MINISTERS

The proposed medical ethics policy statement has been endorsed by Cabinet.  With the ministers endorsement, the State Secretary for Health, Welfare and Sports, Mrs. Bussemaker can now forward her proposal to the parliament for possible further discussion, ratification or adoption into law.  In this medical ethics statement, the importance of protecting, respecting and to uphold human dignity in medical situations is reaffirmed.  Mrs. Bussemaker proposal went further into other important areas such as the use of humans in medical research, stem cells and genetic.  Because of coalition Government agreement on foetus, abortion and euthanasia, this proposal and the reference points do not come as a surprise.
